Our next meeting will be on Wednesday 15th February. David Etheridge will give a fascinating talk on the life of a fireman as well as tips on fire safety in the home.

We will also be holding a bring and buy sale to raise funds for our group. Please set aside any items including books that you would like to donate.

December’s Christmas Dinner

In December we had a meal at the Bath Street Bistro.

We have an exciting program of meetings in the new year starting with a talk by David Endacott on Bats and the Oxfordshire Bat Group in January.

In October we were joined by Anne Borrowdale who gave an amusing talk on the invigilator who set fire to his trousers: tales from the exam hall.

September’s meeting

In September we were joined by Carol Hunt who gave us tips on reinventing our wardrobes. Covering alterations, re-styling, repairs, embellishment, dyeing and lots more. It was a very enjoyable evening.

July’s meeting

On 20th July, we were treated to an Holistic Therapies demonstration. Tutors from the Barclay Academy of Complementary Health gave a talk and demonstrations of Reflexology and Holistic Massage, including the Dorn Therapy Method, and taught us a few useful techniques we can use on ourselves. We also had a review of the recent NFWI AGM in Liverpool from Sonia Edwards of Marcham WI.

June Meeting

On 15th June, we had a fun wine tasting session with Valerie and Michael Calderbank. The evening was comprised of a comparative tasting of old and new world wines, and we learnt the tricks of wine tasting whilst trying out six different wines (red, white and rosé). On this occasion, there was a preference for the new world wines from New Zealand and South Africa.

On 18th May, we held our own mini-Antiques Roadshow. Simon Jones, an auctioneer with over 30 years experience, evaluated and discussed a variety of items brought in by members.
